Sarah Elizabeth Small Doom, 77, of Reidsville, NC, passed away peacefully at her family farm on January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was known for her captivating sense of humor, outgoing personality, and loving heart, making a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Sarah was born on September 23, 1947, to Berlon Kellum Small and Thelma Rhae Butler Small of Reidsville, NC. After graduating from Bethany High School in 1965, she went on to study dental hygiene.
After she received her education, she started her career as a dental assistant; however, she spent most of her career in the insurance industry. She had a successful 20-year career in Risk Management at Lorillard until her retirement in March of 2013.
Sarah cherished moments spent with family, particularly at the beach. She took great pleasure in painting, watching her favorite show "Yellowstone" and the character Rip, and immersing herself in books on her Kindle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Berlon Kellum Small and Thelma Rhae Butler Small of Reidsville, and her sister, Sandra Small Kiser of Hampstead.
Sarah is survived by her husband Anthony “Tony” Doom, of 50 years; her sister, Susan Small Bailey (husband, Tom), and her children: Scott Doom (wife, Debbie) of Colfax, Jason Doom (wife, Ashley) of Reidsville, and Courtney Doom-Henegar (husband, Buddy) of Reidsville. She also leaves behind her four treasured granddaughters, Amber, Cheyenne, Megan, and McKayla, as well as her niece, Jamie Bailey Tokarczyk (husband, Jeff), her nephew, David Bailey (wife, Mary), and their children.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13th, 2025, from 6-8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home with services at Sharon Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ANCORA Compassionate Care, a palliative care provider in Rockingham County.
