Sarah Hopson was born on July 16, 1933 to Obediah and Lula Nelson, in Batesville, Mississippi. Sarah had eleven siblings, eight of which preceeded her in death.
She met Jesse Hopson and the two were married on July 14, 1950. They remained together until Jesse's death on January 3, 2000. Together they had four children, Joseph (Mary), Eva, Jerome, both of whom preceded her in death, and Deborah.
She was a farm worker during her early years. After marriage she worked at home raising her family. Although she did not complete her schooling she was a very intelligent and resourceful woman. She always stressed to her children the importance of getting their education. Sarah was a stylish dresser and had a keen eye for quality materials.
Another milestone of Sarah's life was when she dedicated her life to Jehovah by water baptism becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 7, 1962. She served as a pioneer for a number of years and truly enjoyed that life-saving work. Sarah left a very fine example for her children. As a result, three of them dedicated their lives to Jehovah also three of her grandchildren. Another two are now studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. How happy she will be to see them all when she awakes in the New World!
Sarah leaves to mourn her death, her brothers Robert and Johnny, her sister Louise, son Joseph and daughter Deborah. Also her five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
