Sarah Lynelle McCammon, affectionately known as Nell, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born on June 30, 1936, in Scott County, Mississippi to Paul Noel Rigby and Wydell Kitchings Rigby. As we mourn the loss of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, we also celebrate the incredible life she lived.
Nell dedicated her life to serving others with dedication and compassion. For fifteen years, she worked at Zayer Department store where her warm smile and helpful nature brightened the days of countless customers. Following that chapter of her life, Nell spent thirteen years working in Human Resources at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), making a positive impact on the lives of both employees and co-workers.
Family was at the center of Nell's world. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and took great joy in each family gathering. Nell is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Leon McCammon; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Wydell Rigby; and a grandchild, Aaron Jones.
She is survived by her daughters: Lisa McCammon of Jackson, Marsha Loftin (Bill) of Byram, Pamela Burrell of Clinton, Cindy Mitchell (Rick) of Byram, and Jennifer Welch (Doyle) of Jackson. Along with her daughters, she leaves a brother, Paul Russell Rigby from Wiggins, 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received for a visitation on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 1pm until 3pm. There will be a Graveside Service Monday at 12pm in Macedonia Cemetery in Forest, MS.
