Sarah J. McLaughlin

Sarah J. McLaughlin (nee Stein) of Newtown died peacefully on March 27th in Doylestown Hospital. She was 98 years old. Sarah "Sally" was born in McKeesport, PA. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John C. McLaughlin; parents, Sarah and Henry Stein; brother William and his wife Isabel; and brother John and his wife Marie. She is survived by her only daughter, Sara Jane.

Sarah graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a master's degree in education. She began her teaching career in the McKeesport public schools and taught until she became pregnant. In 1969, she returned to the classroom and taught special needs children in the Centennial School District until her retirement in 1992.

She enjoyed going on cruises, going to the casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, and reading.

Sarah was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Relatives and friends are invited to Sally's Life Celebration on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd, Newtown, PA 18940. A Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Sally will be laid to rest at Newtown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sarah's name may be sent to Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Association of the Miraculous Medal.
