The Wake for Ms. Sarah will be held on Monday, September 1, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m at Lone Star Baptist Church in Hineston. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with Pastors Benji Rhame and Calvin Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Lecompte Cemetery under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Linda Pickering; sister, Wanda Dousay; maternal grandparents, Viola and Ernest Messer; paternal grandparents, John and Marcie Pickering; and nephew, Casey Dousay.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Carrie Pickering and Zackary Pickering; granddaughter, Naomi Shelfo; siblings, Chris Pickering (Mary), April Pickering, and Johnathan Pickering (Kimberly); brother-in-law, Hank Dousay: nieces and nephews, Cory Dousay (Andrea), Cassie Dousay, TJ Pickering (Shelbe), Amanda Pickering (Jordan Edwards), John Pickering, Elizabeth Torrans-Kees (Cameron), Amanda Torrans, Emilie Nornholm, Natalie Nornholm, Madison Nornholm, and Abel Williams; and a host of family and friends.

Sarah was a loving mother, sister, and aunt. She had a big heart for people and for animals. Sarah proudly served her community for 10 years as a Deputy with the Rapides Parish Sheriff Department. She loved arts and crafts, baking, cooking, scrapbooking, and wood burning. Sarah's light may have dimmed here on earth, but her warmth and love will forever illuminate our hearts, living on in every memory and every quiet moment we hold dear.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Zackary Pickering, Chris Pickering, Joseph Hughes, Brian Ashworth, Corey Dousay, and Randy Hughes.
