Jerry Eugene Pickering, 83, of Jonesboro passed from this life on March 19, 2026 at his home. He was born May 6, 1942 in Greene County to the late Elbert “Monk” Pickering and Nora Earlene Pickering.

Jerry lived most of his life in the Jonesboro area and was a charter member of Highland Drive Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, following the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas State Red Wolves, and spending time outdoors, especially feeding the birds and visiting Greers Ferry Lake. He also liked cooking but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Lynn Pickering; sisters, Wilma Wright, JoAnn Beason and Sue Neal as well as brothers, Harold D. Pickering, Emmett Pickering and Donald Pickering.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Pickering; daughter, Leslie (Andy) Boone; brother, Jim Pickering; sisters, Kay Wimpy and Lynn (Joe) Tubbs; grandchildren, Olivia (Roman) Brown, Caroline (Phil) Woods and Tessa Boone; greatgrandchildren Fletcher Woods, Lofton Woods and Boone Brown as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 5:30 p.m. on Saturday March 21, 2026 at Emerson Funeral Home. All other services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Helping Neighbors Food Pantry 501 W. Highland Jonesboro, AR 72401.
