Sarann Kathryn Class Foster, 82, of Moorestown, returned to the loving care of the God of her understanding on September 29, 2025.
Born to Franklin and Ruth Class, Sarann grew up in Riverton, Palmyra, and Cinnaminson, where her lifelong love of the arts first began to shine. She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Donald C. Foster; her son, Loren C. Foster (Rachel Smith); her daughter, Kahra Foster Buss (Joseph Buss, Jr.); and her five beloved grandchildren, Henry and Ella Foster and Anna, Grace, and Abigail Buss, who were the ultimate joy in her life.
Sarann was an artist at her very core. From her early years of dance training to earning her BFA at Beaver College (now Arcadia University), her creative spirit was unstoppable. She was "Maggie" to those who loved her. She began her career in design at Diversified Interior Design in Philadelphia, and in 1967 she met her loving husband, Donald. They married in 1968, settling in Moorestown in 1971, where they built a home filled with family, laughter, and beauty.
A passionate advocate for arts education, Sarann co-founded the Moorestown Arts Advisory Council (now MooreArts) and brought the Art Goes To School program to Moorestown, where it thrived for more than 30 years. Her efforts ensured that countless children experienced the joy and importance of the arts.
Together, she and Don shared a remarkable devotion to the arts, attending the Philadelphia Orchestra every month for more than 40 years, and cherishing theater, ballet, and travel adventures near and far. An avid collector of contemporary fine art and crafts, Sarann loved engaging with artists, learning from them, and celebrating their work.
Sarann's artistry extended into every aspect of her life. A gifted fiber artist and seamstress, she created woven pieces, Kumihimo braids, hand-woven baby blankets, beautiful clothing, and even her daughter's wedding dress. Her creations, many displayed across the Philadelphia region, were as personal as they were exquisite. She was a proud member of the Philadelphia Guild of Handweavers and South Jersey "Flakes," treasuring the camaraderie of fellow creatives.
Deeply rooted in her faith, Sarann was active throughout her life in the Episcopal Church, serving on Vestry and Altar Guilds at Christ Church, Riverton, and Trinity Episcopal Church, Moorestown. She gave freely of her time, talents, and warm spirit in service to her community.
Sarann will be remembered for her sharp wit, her love of literature, her impeccable eye for style, and her ability to make every gathering meaningful. She delighted in baking homemade gingerbread houses for her grandchildren to decorate, wrapping gifts so carefully they were almost too beautiful to open, and offering her loved ones not just presents, but her presence. She cheered loudly, first for her children at Lacrosse games, and then for her grandchildren at soccer games and crew regattas. Above all, her greatest joy was found at the family table, surrounded by the laughter and love of her children and grandchildren.
Known for her grace, refinement, and generosity, Sarann leaves behind a legacy of creativity, service, and devotion to family. Friends and colleagues remember her as smart, sophisticated, and truly "a lady."
Services will be held at Christ Church, Riverton, on Thursday, October 9, at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers donations to Christ Church Riverton are welcomed.
