Saulius Janusas

JANUSAS - Saulius "Saul," 89, of Sea Cliff, NY, passed away after a long illness on February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Saul was born in Siauliai, Lithuania in 1935 and lived in Kaunas until the end of World War II. Saul then spent five years in displaced persons camps in Germany before emigrating to the United States in 1950 and settling in New York City. He graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelor's degree in Physics in 1965, and worked as an engineer for defense firms on Long Island, including Sperry Gyroscope, AIL, Cardion and finished up after 15 years at Northrop Grumman, retiring after a successful career traveling the world for these companies as an engineer and inventor of electronic devices and radar.

Saul served in the Army National Guard from 1957 through 1962 and later spent over 15 years in the New York Army National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) at the age of 80, an accomplishment he was immensely proud of. After retirement, Saul earned a master's degree in space studies and planetary science with honors and enjoyed building his own telescopes. He had a passion for boating, was an instrument rated commercial pilot, and loved ham radio. A lifelong animal lover, he remained busy with hobbies and projects at home. Saul is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Angela Grazina; their sons, Andrew (Kristine), John (Joy), and Simon; and grandchildren, Christopher, Aidan, and Trevor. He was predeceased by his son Stasys. He will be remembered for his creativity, curiosity, scientific mind, unique sense of humor and his unwavering dedication to his family.
