Saundra Kay Garrison Wallace of Des Moines, Iowa, and originally from Harmony Indiana, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 76, just shy of her 77th birthday.

Saundra, also known as Gumps (a name given to her by Enzo) was a woman of boundless love, gentle humor, and a creative spirit. She delighted in sewing, writing poems and watching the birds and squirrels. She could name every bird she saw that visited her window. She loved all dogs and loved Coco so much. She had a special way of finding joy in life's small wonders and made everyone around her smile.

She shared over 50 years of love with her high school sweetheart and beloved husband, Gerald Lee Wallace-a love that remained at the center of her heart. She had the joy of watching her great-grandson, Enzo, grow over the years while she shared a house with her daughter and family. She loved seeing her great-grand babies visit. She loved cooking and baking, especially filling their home with the sweet aroma of cookies in the middle of the night.

Saundra's warmth, humor, and love left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She is survived by her children, Michael Wallace and Dena Wallace. Her grandchildren, Candace (Abrian Alvarez), KayeLeena Wallace and her cherished great-grandchildren; Enzo Alvarez, LiLee and Zaylee Powell, along with several nieces and nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Wallace, and her parents Frederick Lloyd Garrison and Anna Ruth (Miller) Garrison, siblings; Frederick Garrison, John Garrison, Kenneth Garrison, Eva Gottsche and Patricia Stinson.

Her spirit, laughter, and love will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Saundra's ashes will be lovingly laid to rest alongside her late husband, Gerald, in Indiana, honoring the bond they shared.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
