Sawyer Schipper, age 16, of West Olive, Michigan, went home to Jesus' arms in paradise on September 22nd, 2024. Sawyer was born on May 28th, 2008 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Sawyer attended Holland Christian Schools through 9th grade, and most recently iCademy as a Sophomore, and Junior.
Sawyer was involved in a fatal car accident that took his life, just a few miles from home.
Sawyer will always be remembered for his kind and tender heart, calm and humble demeanor, incredible attention to detail, desire to always care for others, and hopes and dreams to work alongside his mom and dad in the family business someday. His humor would light up a room, his contagious laugh could make anyone smile. He was an unbelievable gamer, his favorite game being Valorant, he also loved detailing cars, especially his dad's. His favorite activities were dancing, traveling with family, dirt-biking, and hunting. Sawyer touched the lives of so many and brought happiness and support to everyone he met. He is deeply missed. His legacy and influence will carry on forever.
"So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice and nobody will take away your joy" John 16:22
Sawyer is survived by his parents, Mike and Chelsea Schipper; two siblings, Henry
Schipper and Evie Schipper; grandparents, Fran Kortman, Kerrie (Bill) Bassow, Mark (Ellen) Schipper; great grandparents, Juella Schipper Elferink, Evelyn de Vries Myaard; and so many close family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28th, from 2:00-5:00PM at Central Wesleyan Church, 446 W 40th St., Holland (please use east side entrance A). A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
The family will be establishing the Sawyer Schipper Memorial Foundation which will focus on providing support for students and others who are disabled or are suffering from bullying or mental health challenges. The foundation will operate in partnership with the family business volunteer team and local area charity organizations. In the meantime, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests that donations be made to Benjamin's Hope RPM Fund, or General Operations Fund, dedicating the donation to the Sawyer Schipper Memorial Foundation. Donations can be made online at https://benjaminshope.app.neoncrm.com/forms/donation.
Too young. Too soon. With his foundation, Sawyer's leadership through kindness will live on.
Arrangements are by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home and condolences may be left online at www.langelandsterenberg.com.

Mary Phillips

September 28, 2024

Sawyer was my grandson's best friend. The heartache must be indescribable. He must have been a really good guy, because my grandson is a really good guy. The bond between the boys cannot be broken by loss of one. May God and His angels surround you and our boys always. Many prayers for you and your family. In sincere sympathy, may God give you moments of peace through the pain. Mary Anne Phillips, Sam Hooglands grandmother.
