The lessons he imparted—of resilience, generosity, and unconditional love—will continue to guide and inspire future generations.

In the serene embrace of the early evening on October 31, 2025, Say Khau, a man of profound love and generosity, completed his earthly journey and transitioned to eternal peace at the University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, in the care and loving arms of his daughter, Jenny Khau and her husband, Hien Nguyen.

Born on November 18th, 1940, in the heart of Cambodia, Say's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of compassion and selflessness, principles deeply rooted in his religious faith.

Say's journey began in a humble Cambodian village, where he embraced the simple joys of life and the foundational wisdom of grade school education. Say and his family endured the hardship under the Khmer Rouge regime, which had caused the perish of almost one million Cambodians. His wife and he did what they could to protect, nurture, and provide for their children. They wanted them to be educated and have better lives. Say’s path led him across oceans to the vibrant communities of Dallas, Texas, where his culinary prowess blossomed. Say's hands, guided by a blend of tradition and innovation, crafted not just meals but experiences at his beloved Chinese restaurant. His reputation as an excellent cook was only eclipsed by his warmth and the welcoming atmosphere he fostered, turning patrons into friends and friends into family.

Though his hands were often busy preparing dishes that delighted the senses, Say's heart remained with his family. His beloved wife, Hoa Lam, predeceased him in 2022, leaving behind cherished memories that continued to inspire Say throughout his life. He was a beacon of paternal love to his children—Jenny, Ly, Sandy, and Na Khau—each of whom inherited their father's kindheartedness and generous spirit. Say's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of joy from watching sports, where the thrill of the game reflected the vigor with which he lived his life. His love for cruising in tranquil waters was a mirror to his own journey—steady, adventurous, and always moving forward with grace.

As a devout Caodaist, Say embodied the essence of loving-kindness that he learned from Christianity, mercy from Buddhism, and justice and mercy from Judaism - the three main religions that Caodaism embodies. He approached every living being with a gentle smile and an open heart, believing in the interconnectedness of all life. His selfless nature was a guiding light to many, reminding us that to give is to receive and that the purest form of love is one that expects nothing in return.

Say's legacy is not confined to the memories of those who knew him but resonates with the values he instilled in his family and community. His departure from this world is not an end but a continuation of his spirit in the countless lives he touched. Say Khau's journey was one of purpose, love, and unyielding generosity—a life truly well-lived.

As we bid farewell to Say, we reflect on the joy he brought into our lives and the peace he has found in his journey's end. May his soul rest in the boundless compassion of Christianity, the mercies of Buddha, and may the merit of his good deeds be shared with all beings - Judaism.
