Scott Garrett Ames

Scott Garrett Ames, 62, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on December 23, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1963, in Santa Barbara, California.

From the very beginning, Scott's life carried challenges that most people never face. Yet within him lived a deeply intelligent, creative, and thoughtful soul. Scott possessed a brilliant analytical mind, paired with a quiet creativity and a dry, clever sense of humor that revealed itself most to those who truly knew him.

Scott attended Clemson University before transferring to the University of Texas at Arlington, where he completed his studies and laid the groundwork for a career that reflected both his intellect and curiosity. Though his formal degree path was business-focused, he had nearly completed a second degree in computer science, and his professional life was firmly rooted in that field.

He spent the majority of his career in software quality assurance and stress testing, a role that suited his attention to detail and problem-solving nature. Scott helped determine when products were truly ready for release and created a respected release-readiness system known as "Good-to-Go." He was a Certified Software Quality Engineer through the American Society for Quality and served as a Quality Assurance Manager for NEC Solutions America, later working with AutoTester as their Software Testing Manager. His work reflected pride, integrity, and a desire to do things the right way.

Even in his professional world, Scott's humor quietly shined through. He once authored a satirical article for an industry publication titled "Stress Testing - What a Load!", a reminder that he could find levity even in serious work.

Outside of work, Scott found comfort and joy in worlds fueled by imagination. He loved science fiction, especially Star Trek, along with Dungeons & Dragons and comic books. These worlds offered him adventure, possibility, and escape. Scott also loved going to live auctions, where he enjoyed the thrill of discovery and the stories behind each item. He was an avid collector, drawn to fine silver, coins, Magic cards, gemstones, and comic books, finding value in things others might overlook. He also had a deep appreciation for Oriental art, an admiration he shared with his mother and one that reflected his eye for beauty, craftsmanship, and history. One of his most creative projects was a symbiotic chess game built from LEGOs, which he liked to say was "more complex than chess - but more fun." Scott was naturally quiet and introverted, but when he felt comfortable, he could speak enthusiastically and thoughtfully about the things he loved. Those moments revealed his warmth, intelligence, and depth.

Scott is survived by his mother, Lynette Ames; his sister, Tiffany Robinson, and her husband Simon; his nieces and nephew Rylee Clements and her husband Cody, and their son Cooper Clements; Reagan Robinson; and Kyle Robinson and his wife Caroline, who are expecting their son, Charlie Robinson, due February 13. He is also survived by cousins Terri Klatt and her husband Tom, and Debbie Ames and her husband Doug.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Ames.

Scott will be remembered for his intelligence, creativity, gentle humor, and the quiet perseverance with which he lived his life. He mattered deeply, and he was loved.
