Edith Jones Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 4, 2026.
Edith A. Jones, lovingly known as Nana to many, passed away on February 1, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, AR, at the age of 83. After a brief but valiant battle, she passed peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones despite her best efforts. She continually showed her love for the family.

Edith was born on October 11th, 1942, in Big Spring, TX to Otis and Itaska Decker. Throughout her years, she spent time in various places, but Wink, TX, was where she and her beloved husband truly called home, and where she was a leader in the Winkler County community.

Edith was a very talented and knowledgeable woman with many different occupations. She was truly passionate about instructing and teaching the art of cosmetology. She blended her love of cosmetology and community when she opened the Mane Street Salon. She held various other titles, including real estate agent, tax assessor/collector, and Mayor of Wink. She put her best efforts into every occupation. She also had a love for serving her community where she was active in many organizations such as: The Roy Orbison Museum, Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA), 4-H leader, and member of The Rebekah Organization. Her hobbies included: quilting, cooking, reading, gardening, dancing, and she loved finding a great bargain. Most importantly she practiced and showcased her faith in God.

Friends and family describe her as a force of nature, who was strong, determined, and feisty. She was also very loving, protective, and loyal with a great sense of humor that was evident by her unforgettable laugh and smile. Edith was an example of what a strong, independent woman was to her children.

Edith married her loving husband Freddie Mac on July 8th, 1961, then proceeded to have three wonderful daughters. Later her family expanded to include another daughter and three sons with 2 bonus children that she loved dearly. Throughout her years she was blessed with many wonderful close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Itaska Decker; her loving husband, Freddie Mac Jones; brother, Ray Decker; and sister Mary Hunsinger.

She is survived by brothers, Stanley and Rodney Decker; sister, Margaret McCarty; daughters, Karen Hoff, Renee (Tom) Belter, Amy (Bruce) Stone, Crystal Quiroz, and Pam (John) White; and sons, Gavin, Landon, and Lucas Jones and Ray Decker Jr.; Grandchildren: David (Anna) Jones, Kristin (Carlos) Barajas, Tyra Pulliam, Kayla Sweazy, Meagan Taylor, Tiffani (Heath) Clark, and Jacob Grubbs; and 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson as well as nieces and nephews.

Edith was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who impacted all that crossed her path. She was the epitome of strength, courage, and love that inspired her family and friends. She taught her children about family, loyalty, and faith in God. Nana will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to send their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mercy Hospital for the care and consideration that was shown to our loved one. As well as Nelson-Berna Funeral Home for all the compassion towards the family, and to all the friends and family that reached out with kind words and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined for all family and friends to attend.
