Scott Barrett (Timothy Scott Burgess), 54, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on August 6th, 2024, at his home.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Peggy Barrett, and his grandparents, Al and Mary (Hamilton) Walker. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kailee Burgess, and grandsons, Cohen A. and Jameson S. Scott is also survived by his sisters, Paula and Linda Barrett, and brother, Ashley Barrett. He will be deeply missed by his uncle and aunt, Roger and Charlene Robinson, as well as by his lifelong friends who became family by love and choice, including Buddy and Sherri Townsend, Danny Moore, John Mullett, Toby Holton, the Baker family, his racing family, Sheri Evans-Hamilton, and many more.

To know Scott, was to love him. His love and heart were boundless, stretching far and wide. His smile and positive outlook on life were infectious and was the cure to any bad day, or situation life threw at each of us. There wasn’t an ounce of “quit” in him, and he left this world still fighting health issues that were bigger than him. He was the toughest, strongest and bravest man many of us will ever have the chance of knowing in this life.

Scott was a simple man. He never needed anything more than the love of his family and friends, and a clear weather forecast on race days to be content in life. Aside from his family, cars & racing were his passion. He spent his life as a master autobody painter and fabricator. There are few people in this world that could hold a flame to his talents when it came to his trade. He has always been known to be the best in the business.

If Scott wasn’t passing time at a racetrack, you could find him in a garage somewhere painting or tinkering with a car. Over the years, he built many cars to go faster than they ever should; so proud of every single one of them. And his work didn’t stop there. He wasn’t finished until he put his finishing touches on them and sent them off with a slick paint job. He had to make sure they looked just as good as they were fast. He knew they were destined to be photographed with the checkered flag after their feature wins, so he left no detail untouched.

Scott leaves behind a world that he was simply too good to stay on any longer. He was sure to leave the best pieces of him, in the hearts of all that loved him before he moved on without us. Thankfully, he left us a world filled with love, laughs and the best memories of his time here with us. Although missing him will never get easier, may he rest forever in Victory Lane.

Visitation Friday, August 16, 2024 from 5pm until the time of Funeral Service at 7pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH
