Scott D. Bennett, 59, of Oneida, NY, left this world on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at home with his family by his side. Scott was born on August 23, 1965 to Douglas and Bonnie (Guenther) Bennett in Syracuse, NY. He was a long-time resident of Big Moose, NY, where he spent his formative years at the family-owned Big Moose Inn. After graduating from Town of Webb UFSD, Scott went on to study hospitality management at RIT and Paul Smith's College. He married Roberta L. (Rowe) Bennett on October 18, 1986.
During his career as a restaurateur, Scott's hard work and passion for cooking elevated the historic Big Moose Inn and set the bar for fine dining. Through his decades, Scott touched the lives and palates of the thousands who passed through the doors of the Inn, and he formed close relationships with those who were drawn to his charisma, passion, empathy, and humor. He was a committed part of his community, where he was a part of the Northwood Masonic Lodge and volunteered at the Big Moose fire department.
Scott loved music. This was reflected in every aspect of his life, from when he was young and followed bands on tour, to when he started a family and enjoyed every opportunity to bring everyone together at concerts. In a constant quest to seek the best sound quality, he often spent his free time working on and developing his stereo systems.
He had a keen, early interest in technology and loved to build his own computers. He was an early pioneer of the internet and used it to strengthen and broaden his friendships both near and far. He loved to share his technical knowledge and offered his services to the community whenever possible.
However, Scott's greatest passion was always focused on humanitarian causes. As a highly empathetic individual, he was always the first to speak out about injustices around the world.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Robbie; his parents, Douglas and Bonnie of Ponce Inlet, FL; his daughter, Alexandra A. Bennett and fiancé, Enrico Labarile, of Vienna, Austria; his son, Zachary D. Bennett and wife, Courtney L. (Swingle) Bennett, of East Rochester, NY; and two cherished grandchildren, Branson F. Bennett and Juniper J. Bennett.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Scott at the family home from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 19th.
It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in accordance to Scott's humanitarian passions to Palestine Children's Relief Fund or UNICEF.

I will remember fondly the many memorable dinners at the Big Moose Inn that began with warm and friendly greeting at the desk by SCOTT, the Consummate Host. He always beamed with Pride - especially IF he showed us to ROBBIE'S table.

My Sincere Condolences to Robbie, Bonnie, Doug and the entire family.

His birthday party on the Big Moose Inn porch! We grew up sharing the same birthday week. He had a dry, witty humor which led to lots of laughs over the years. Especially the night he had me help distract the boyfriend so he could woo his future wife.
