Scott Bivins, 53, of New Castle, passed from this life to his eternal life in Glory on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home with his wife, JoDee, by his side. He was born July 7, 1971, in Evansville, son of the late James Elwood Bivins and Nora Joyce Dunn.

The people closest to Scott knew him to be a deep thinker, loyal, funny, passionate, and caring. An avid sports fan, Scott especially loved the Milwaukee Brewers and NCAA Football. Scott poured himself into everything he did. He loved hard, and had a special gift of making others laugh and feel loved and seen. Scott loved God and was an active, beloved member of his church. He saw God’s glory in nature, especially in the heavens. His friends and family found significance and comfort in the appearance of the Northern Lights in the sky on the evening that he passed.

Scott’s wife, JoDee, was his constant companion and loving caregiver throughout his final years. Scott and JoDee loved their life together. Over their seven years of marriage, they shared many happy hours enjoying the outdoors, travelling, watching baseball, and cuddling with their precious cats, Frannie and Winnie.

One of Scott’s greatest passions has always been music, especially Progressive Metal. He and his friend, Jason, even hosted a podcast called, “According to Metal,” for several years.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, JoDee (Wooten) Bivins of New Castle; a sister, Mischelle (Ron) Ogle of Carmel, his mother in law, Stephanie (Cole) Mann of Lafayette, brothers in law, Stephen Wooten of New Lisbon and Scott Wooten of Lanai City, HI; nieces and nephews, William, Heather, Michael, Emily, Todd, Zee, Bryce, Allie, Andrew, Keelie, and MaKaylie; great nieces and nephews, Cam, Natalie, Parker, Rosie, Titus, Isaiah, Thalia, Rhett, Lilly, Thia, Freya, and Theo.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law, Jan Wooten, and sister in law, Jennifer Wooten.

A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at The House, 515 S. 15th St., New Castle with Pastor Joe Joplin officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Friends and family are invited to share a meal together afterwards at Scott’s request and in his honor.
