Scott Lee Brown, 70, of Peterson, Iowa, died in the comfort of his own home on September 28th, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Scott was born September 9th, 1953, second of five children to Jim and Mary (Mason) Brown. He graduated from Sioux Valley High School, 1971. He went on to marry Debra Syndergaard, July 7th, 1972. Scott worked various jobs before starting his career as a Maintenance Technician at Eaton Corporation and helped his father-in-law farm before retiring.

Scott was a life time member of the First Congregational Church of Peterson. He spent many years volunteering in his community. He was instrumental in the building and development of the Brooke Memorial Ball field and coaching little league sports. Scott also spent 20 years serving the Peterson community on city council and as mayor. Scott had a love for the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, camping, and riding his side-by-side with his friends and family.

Scott’s strongest passion was his family. He took great pride in helping his children and grandchildren with home projects and vehicle repairs. He was often found on the sidelines or in the bleachers of all the numerous activities his children and grandchildren participated in, being their biggest fan. His positivity and words of encouragement

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Jim Lee Brown; his father-in-law, Kenneth Syndergaard; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Syndergaard; and sister-in-law Carol Thiesse.
