GREG L. BROWN, 74, of
Peterson, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at The Gardens Assisted Living in
Cherokee, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 10:30 at the First Congregational Church of Peterson. Pastor Tyler Thomsen will officiate. Burial will be held at the Oakland Cemetery at
Peterson, Iowa at a later date. Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in
Peterson, Iowa. The Boothby Funeral Home of
Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Peterson CRU or the Peterson Lions Club in Greg's honor.
Greg was born on February 1, 1951 to Ralph and Arlene (Kracht) Brown at LeMars, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High School in 1969. He attended Sioux City Barber College. He married his life partner, Cheri Anderson on June 4, 1971. To this union, three boys were born, Ryan in 1973, Shawn in 1975, and Shane in 1976. Greg and Cheri first moved to Holstein and then moved back to Peterson. Greg worked for Eaton's Corporation for 37 years.
Greg was a member of the First Congregational Church in
Peterson, Iowa. He was a member of the Peterson Lion's Club.
Greg loved life with Cheri by his side, doing whatever she planned for them to do. Together they enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, camping, and spending time with both family and friends. They enjoyed going to PBR events together and with their friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Arlene Brown, wife Cheri on November 25, 2025, son Shawn in 1975, sister Peggy Jaminet in 2024, and brother-in-law Rick Anderson in 2010.
Greg is survived by his two sons, Ryan and Shane Brown; granddaughters Josie (special friend Billy Lange) and Lily Brown; brothers Rodney and Marci Brown and Jeff and Patty Brown; brother-in-law Fred Jaminet and brother-in-law Jon and Janet Anderson; sister-in-law Deb Anderson; also many nieces, nephews, and friends.
