Scott Lee Callahan, 51 of Mehoopany, formerly of Hunlock Creek, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Oct. 27, 1970, and was the son of William Callahan and his step-mother, Karen.
Scott graduated from GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was employed as a 911 dispatcher for Luzerne County and later for the Social Security Administration as a supervisor in the mail room from 2002-2021. Scott was an avid hunter and fisherman. He coached baseball and basketball with Northwest Area School District and Northwest Area Little League. He was a loving husband and father who loved teaching his son how to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Shannon Callahan Karaffa.
In addition to his parents, Scott is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jackie Callahan; son, Forrest, at home; brother, William and his wife, Laura, Hanover Twp.; sister, Jackie Callahan, Plains Twp.; uncle, Tom Tasco and his wife, Pat, Lehman Twp.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Carol Folk, of the Loyalville United Methodist Church, officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
