Scott Alan Clapp

Mr. Scott Alan Clapp, age 52, formerly of Dana Point, CA passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 in Cleves, Ohio. He was born in Greensburg, Indiana to Ivan and Becky Wiley Clapp. Scott was a 1989 graduate of Columbus High School East. He was a cabinet maker for Moen Woodworks in San Clemente, California for many years. Scott moved to California in the early 1990's in an effort to expand his skateboarding hobby. As he made more friends, he learned to sail and began a years long successful hobby on Gray Goose, an Olson 30 sailboat he co-owned with Jeremy Quinton.
Scott is survived by his wife, Nina McNeely; grandmother, Eva Mae Clapp; mother, Becky Clapp; brother, Todd Clapp and his partner Acacia Phillips; numerous aunts, uncles, with too many cousins to count; and a host of friends who were extended family in the sailing community of southern California. He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Clapp.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00am at Friendship Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio. Burial at sea of his cremated remains will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 9:00am at Dana West Yacht Club in Dana Point, California.
