Scott Dobbs, 68, of rural Ontario, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Sue by his side on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Scott was born September 27, 1956 in Sparta Wisconsin to Stacy and Margie (Worthington) Dobbs. He grew up on a farm outside of Ontario with his parents and older sister Cindy. He attended elementary school in Ontario and later graduated from Brookwood High School, class of 1974. On May 5, 1982, he married his sweetheart, Susan (Carr) Dobbs of New Carlisle, Indiana. After they married, they moved into Scott's childhood home, where they spent their 43-years of marriage and raised four children together.
Together, Scott and Sue dairy farmed for six years. The majority of his working years were dedicated to establishing and operating his plumbing business, Dobbs Tank & Drain. He also managed the family farm, raising horses and beef cattle. Scott had a creative and innovative way of thinking and a very bright mind. In his 40's and 50's he put that creativity to work, building three homes from the ground up, an endeavor that both challenged him and rewarded him greatly.
Scott enjoyed the slow and simple life and was very good at pausing to notice the mystery and complexity of God's creation. He deeply valued working alongside someone else, a value he learned as a child. He was a life-long learner and took an interest in many subjects. He loved music and especially enjoyed playing the guitar. He could sit and philosophize with friends or strangers for hours. Later in life, his 11 grandchildren were a great source of enjoyment to Scott. He loved to make them smile and sneak them candy.
He is survived by his wife Susan, daughters Miriah (Nate) Noble, Sierra (August) Hagen, Noel (Danny) Koeller, grandchildren Eve, Cora and Aiden Noble, Thaya, Frida, Rowan and Dahlia Hagen, and Rosalie, Hadley, Quinn and Sadie Koeller, as well as his sister Cindy Bjerkos and several aunts and uncles and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Stacy and his beloved son, Joel.
Per his wishes, his immediate family will gather for a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take a moment to consider that Big Foot might actually be real. Scott would get a kick out of it. ;-)The family thanks Torkelson Funeral Home for their assistance.
