Scott Douglas, 77 of Downers Grove, at rest July 17, 2024. Born November 28, 1946 in Decatur, IL to Carlisle and Mildred Douglas. Beloved husband of Jo-Ellen (nee Zulas);loving father of Mary and Renee' Douglas; dearest brother of the late Holly Nutt; dear brother-in-law of George (Dawn) Zulas, Ginger (Mike) Kenig and the late Patricia Brown; fond uncle of: George & Tom Zulas, Dave (Shawna) Brown, Mike (Katie) & Todd Kenig, Rob Nutt, Debbie Jackson, Heather Copper and his devoted pit bull Lucy. Scott enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and served for four years. He wanted to be a mechanic and work on airplanes, but the Navy had other plans for him, After taking and excelling on language and other aptitude tests, he was selected for intelligence work. The Navy sent him to The Defense League Institute (DLI) in Monterey, CA where he learned Russian. He served on the USS Independence and spent a year in Japan listening to, translating and analyzing intercepted Soviet radio traffic. Scott was former machinist for Imperial Machine, Electromotive and Foote-Jones. If you asked Scott, how he was? His standard answer was, "About the same." He had a passion for Harley and Norton motorcycles along with his 2011 Chevy Silverado. Scott enjoyed refinishing furniture to perfection, dogs and reading. He recently reread all 1168 pages of Atlas Shrugged, a novel by Ayn Rand!
