Scott Knapp Obituary

Mr. Knapp was the owner and operator of Napoli's Pizzeria in Richlands, where his infectious smile greeted and welcomed patrons since it opened. He absolutely loved being active in the community and was an ambassador for disc golf in eastern NC. He volunteered his time and talents as the sports announcer for the Richlands Community. His passion was to encourage and to be a part of the lives of the youth in Richlands. Above all, he loved being a husband and dad. He would do anything he could for his boys.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Rouse Knapp; one brother, Chuckie Knapp; and one nephew, Cody Huffman.
Survivors include the love of his life; his wife, Melissa Huffman Knapp of the home; two sons, John John Knapp and Avery Knapp, both of the home; his father, Richard Knapp and his wife, Carol of Myrtle Beach; brother, Harry Hunter and his wife, Tonia of Jacksonville; sister, Karen Bradstreet of Leland; brother, Christopher Knapp and his wife, Ginger of Westfield, PA; his in-laws, Donald and Wanna Huffman of Richlands; four nephews, Nick and Jason Hunter, Tyler Smith and Slate Knapp; and five nieces, Kara Huffman, Heather Knapp, Kelly Berman, Daisy Knapp and Violet Knapp.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at First Baptist Church Richlands, 100 Rand Street, Richlands, NC.

15 years ago, when I was a teenager my mother passed away. During this period of confusion and grief, I was working dead end jobs unsure of what I was doing with my life. Scott happened to manage next door to one of these so called jobs at a pizza joint called Lazzara´s pizza. He offered me a more stable job, and eventually promoted me to assistant manager at 18 years old. As a kid with nothing who never achieved much, this sort of recognition was integral in building self confidence allowing me to be where I am now.
Scott was the first person I ever considered a professional mentor, and eventually considered a friend.
With time and distance, me and Scott lost contact years ago. But his hard work, charisma, and lighthearted character followed me throughout the bad and good moments of my life .
My mother passed at age 51. I am now a husband and father of two children of my own. Scott´s passing will always fall hard and heavy on my heart
Will always be my September 6th brother.
