Scott Lederman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Leary Funeral Home Ltd. on Mar. 4, 2026.
Scott Charles Lederman, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 25, 2026.

Born June 29, 1941, on a United States Army base in Panama to Helen and Milton Lederman, Scott grew up in Bellmore, New York. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1964, then served in the United States Army, both in Germany and Vietnam. He earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He served as Penn's treasurer from 1987 until his retirement in 1999.

Scott met the love of his life, Abby (Merriam), on a blind date in 1973. They married months later, and for 53 years, he devoted himself to partnership, family, and laughter. He is survived by his beloved wife; his children Timothy (Ginger), Max (Dayna), and Annie (Todd); his grandchildren James, Scottie, Reese, and Claire; and his sisters Nancy Foye and Patty Brady.

A devoted family man, Scott cherished family vacations, leftovers, and meaningful conversations with anyone lucky enough to know him. Known for his optimism and generosity, he spent his retirement mentoring others, serving as Center Director for the Philadelphia Center of the Mankind Project, and staying closely connected with friends and loved ones.

He was known for his intelligence, humor, and deep compassion for others.

No memorial services will be held. A celebration of life will take place in the spring or summer.
