Jack M. Lederman, a pillar of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at the age of 84, at Elderwood Nursing Home in Waverly. Born on July 2, 1941, in Elmira, Jack's journey through life was marked by devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a cheerful spirit that brought joy to all who knew him.

Survived by his life partner of 55 years, Charlotte Forsyth, Jack's legacy continues through his loving children: Jackie Lederman, Debbie Lederman, Clayton Forsyth, Charlotte Barrett (Dale Babcock), and Tammie (Todd) Kwiatkowski. His grandchildren, Ashley, Haley, Elena, Shelby, Emilie, Andrea, Zach, and Aubrey, as well as his great-grandchildren, Evan, Eli, Emmett, Liam, and Olivia, will carry forward the lessons of love and laughter he instilled in them. His sister, Jean Woodard, alongside sisters-in-law Phyllis Lederman and Loretta Lederman, and Charlotte's siblings Alice Hall, Jim Sweeney, Charles Sweeney, and Ann Cashio, will cherish the memories of Jack's unwavering support and friendship. Jack's life was also enriched by the affection of several nieces, nephews, and their families. He now joins his parents, William and Magelia Lederman, his siblings Bill, Bob, Carl, John and Art Lederman, his in-laws Ruth and Charles Sweeney, his brother-in-law Roy Hall, and sister-in-law Vernia Hurlburt (Wayne) in eternal rest.

Jack's early life took a turn of courage and patriotism when he left school to enlist in the US Army with his buddies, serving his country with honor. His return to civilian life saw him embark on a career as a skilled machinist at Universal Instruments in Binghamton, where his dedication and craftsmanship were highly valued for many years.

Family was the cornerstone of Jack's world. He and Charlotte shared a love for adventure that saw them exploring the country through camping trips and savoring moments at the NYS Fair and the Bloomsburg Fair. Jack's passion for cars, particularly his cherished Camero, was more than a hobby; it was a canvas for his creativity and mechanical ingenuity. His children fondly recall the winter days of ice skating at Sherwood’s pond and the excitement of annual trips to the amusement park, moments that Jack treasured as much as they did.

A man of many talents, Jack built a motorized bike that became a symbol of his innovative spirit as he journeyed across the countryside. His presence was a source of warmth during the holidays, especially Christmas, which he celebrated with an infectious love that made each season magical.

Jack was the embodiment of the words loving, kind, and friendly. His ability to connect with people was evident in the visits and chats he shared with friends, always leaving them with a smile.

Abiding with Jack’s wishes there will be no services. Jack will be laid to rest in the spring at the Village of Montour Falls Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting his guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial gift of remembrance to the family, c/o Charlotte Forsyth, 84 Cady Ave., Apt. 305, Nichols, NY 13812. As we bid farewell to Jack, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, service, and the simple joys that make a life memorable. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Rest in peace, Jack, knowing that your journey was one of purpose and that your memory will be a beacon of light for generations to come.
