Scott C. Miller, 71, of Little Falls passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025 after a long illness.
Born on November 9, 1953 in New York City to Norman C. and Stella R. Miller, Scott grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey, where he attended public schools, graduating from East Brunswick High School in 1971.
Scott received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1975. He went on to earn his Master of Science degree in Physics, also from RPI, in 1977. While at RPI he was selected to study for a summer semester at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in West Virginia. In his free time at college he was the play-by-play announcer on the RPI radio station for the men's hockey team. He also participated in intramural hockey as a goalie.
His career began in 1977 as a software engineer on the Trident missile program at Singer-Kearfott in Wayne, New Jersey. In 1982 he received his M.B.A. in Finance from Rutgers University Graduate School of Management, where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for business and management. Scott then began a long career in the Information Technology Financial Services industry in both New York City and New Jersey, which included CitiBank, Bankers Trust, Montclair Financial Technology, Netik, Vista One Solutions, Dovetail and Fiserv, from which he retired in 2025.
He was the owner of I Squared R Associates, formerly known as Ibis Web Creations, a company that designed and built websites for the Township of Little Falls, Passaic Valley Regional High School, Little Falls Township Public Schools, Floyd Hall Arena, the New Jersey Jackals, Clifton Stallions Soccer Club, Metro Youth Soccer League and the Montclair Community Band.
A resident of Little Falls for the last 46 years, Scott was active in the Little Falls Athletic Club where he was corresponding secretary, a member of the scholarship committee and a coach for soccer, basketball, baseball and hockey for many years. He was president of the Passaic Valley Soccer Parents Association and a roadie for the Passaic Valley Band Parents Association.
He was also a member of the Little Falls United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir for many years. For over 40 years Scott and his wife Carol created hand-painted personalized wooden Christmas ornaments that they sold at the LFUMC Christmas Fair each year, with all proceeds donated to the church budget.
One of Scott's greatest joys was being a member of the Oratorio Society of New Jersey, where he sang classical music in the tenor section for eleven years. He also held the position of membership chair for their Board of Trustees.
Scott's wide range of interests included science, astronomy, nature, history, archaeology, classical music, opera, technology, soccer (especially Everton Football Club), the New York Jets and the New Jersey Devils. He loved traveling, especially to Cape Cod and to Vermont, where he enjoyed hiking and snowshoeing.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol (Riker), sons Christopher Miller, and Andrew Miller and his wife Arwen Fitzgerald, grandsons Tristan and Alexander Miller, all of Little Falls, and his brother Marc Miller of Ajijic, Mexico.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Lung Transplant Center for their excellent care and compassion.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. Funeral ceremony will be on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
In lieu of flowers, Scott's family would appreciate donations in his name to the Oratorio Society of New Jersey so that they can continue to create beautiful musical programs for the enjoyment of all.
