Scott Arnold Pickett, age 56, of
Park Rapids, Minnesota peacefully journeyed into the loving arms of Jesus, at home in his bed, while he slept embraced by his beloved wife, Samantha.
Scott was born on March 10, 1969, in
Park Rapids, Minnesota to Victor & Kathy (Richard) Pickett. He grew up in Park Rapids, where he lived his entire life. Scott learned his love of cars right from the start with his dad and business, Vic's Auto Repair. Over the years, they built quite the collection of vehicles. He has always been a hard worker with Festival Foods, Bumper to Bumper and Gulbransons being a few places he worked. He built his dream job of his own company, Scott's Towing, Repair & Locksmith, which Samantha will continue running, at Scott's request. Growing up, he was always protective and caring of his sister, Jodi, and introduced her to her husband, Chris. Scott loved cruising Main Street, hill climbing in his pickup, Reality, and just having fun. He graduated with the Park Rapids Class of 1987.
Scott and Samantha's friendship started when they met in 1990. They united that friendship into the most wonderful marriage in 2018. Scott was so proud to have Samantha by his side wherever they were and tell the world they were best friends and truly soulmates. They bought a farm that same summer and have loved life raising their kids there and making it their own, adding his dream shop, dairy cows, Mangalitsa hogs and many other critters and cars. It was a joke between them that for every car Scott added, Samantha got a new critter. Scott was a member of the Assembly of God Church and got baptized a couple years ago. Scott loved Jesus and shared the gospel with many people and prayed they all would accept the gift of salvation. His life slogan was FAITH over fear, even when he was not feeling well these last few months, Scott never lost his faith!
Scott was an amazing man, husband and father. He had such a huge heart and smile, everyone will remember that smile! Scott loved time with family and the kids, going on walks around the property, country drives and his collector cars. He truly enjoyed helping people and was quite good at coming up with unique ideas on how to accomplish a mission without instructions or a lot of money. His favorite doctor/friend called him "McGyver" (he was very proud of that name) when he would share some of his ideas with her. Scott "legally" broke into cars as a locksmith for years. Recently, Scott and Samantha added houses, businesses and even gun safes to the things they helped people with. He loved the challenge and accomplishment of again, helping someone. When Trump won the 2016 election, Scott learned a new appreciation for politics. He got involved with the Hubbard County Republicans (BPOU) and soon convinced Samantha to run for office with him. Scott very proudly wore the title of Vice Chair. He had a lot of thoughts on government and those in office. He spent endless hours not only standing behind those he felt worthy of representing him, but also patriotic causes he believed in. For the last couple elections, Scott took on storing and handing out political signs. He loved to drive out and actually put up a ton of them himself. He was often seen out pounding signs into the ground. He was very specific regarding where and how they were displayed. He put on hundreds of miles and placed that many signs for all to see. Scott loved to organize rallies and make sure the BPOU had a place to host events. A year ago, Scott helped put together the "Trump Rally" in Nevis and was the announcer for the guest speakers. Scott was also passionate about learning and sharing the dangers of EMFs and radiation, cell phones, etc. Even when he was sick in the hospital, Scott would share with any who would listen, having Samantha hand out brochures to the nurses so they could learn more.
Scott will lovingly be missed and forever remembered by his best friend and soulmate, Samantha, their eleven children: Adrianna Weiss, RJ (April) Weiss, Ethan (Heidi) Yliniemi, Anthony (Molly Paulson) Yliniemi, Drew Weiss, Madeline (Isaak) Meyer, Tanner Pickett, Kaitlynn Pickett, Isaac Weiss, Vivian Weiss and Scotty Pickett. Grandchildren: Jaxon, Harper, Owen, Baylor, Grace, Waylen, Easton, Jamis and one due in January; parents: Victor & Kathy Pickett; mother-in-law: Sharon Hanke; sister: Jodi (Chris) Farden; brother and sister-in-laws: Steven (Kate) Hanke, Stacy (Kris) Martin, Suzanna (Matt) Kieselbach; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and many, MANY friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Wrenlee Jo Weiss, father-in-law, Steve Hanke, grandparents Leon & Hortense Richard and Victor & Grace Pickett, and brother-in-law, Solomon Hanke.

1 Peter 4:10-11 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
