Scott Alan Sigsworth

Scott Alan Sigsworth, age 53, passed away on April 16, 2024, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minnesota. His passing came as a result of complications from Influenza and Sepsis Pneumonia.
Born on August 14, 1970, at Amery Hospital in Amery, Wisconsin, Scott was the beloved son of Larry and Karen Sigsworth. He grew up and lived in Amery.
He was previously married to Brenda, and together they had three children: Alyssa, Kayla, and Mitchell. Scott cherished his role as a father and "Papa Scott", finding joy in spending time with his children and grandson, Luke.
Scott found love again later in life with Lori Kopacz, whom he spent the last 15 years with. He shared a deep bond with Lori, and her three children. Scott was a constant presence in their lives, always willing to help and be there when they needed him.
In his youth, Scott had a passion for cars and motorcycles. His favorite bikes from that time were a Honda Nighthawk S and a Suzuki GS1150e. Additionally, he proudly owned a 1969 Chevelle, which he acquired during his high school years. He also had a 1969 Camaro, which he sold to finance the construction of his shop. Scott loved classic cars. At the time of his passing, he was in the process of rebuilding another 1969 Chevelle.
With many hours already spent turning wrenches, Scott naturally ended up spending most of his working career as a mechanic. He was known affectionately as a "wrench monkey." He spent many years maintaining the buses for the Amery School District as a bus mechanic, where he was valued for his expertise and dedication. After his time there, Scott continued to use his mechanic skills with NextGen Powersports and later joined Scott Poye as a diesel mechanic. These experiences solidified Scott's reputation as a reliable mechanic, earning the respect and admiration of his coworkers and customers alike.
Despite facing challenges with Chronic Back Pain and Osteo Degenerative Imperfecta (bone disease), Scott was a hard worker. He took on various mechanic jobs that came his way, and it seemed like he always had someone's car, motorcycle, or boat in his shop for "just a quick fix."
In his free time, Scott treasured riding his Harley with Lori, often joined by their close friends Kris and Laurie Harris. Together, they embarked on several annual bike trips, taking the opportunity to explore new cities and see sights, but most importantly, savoring the simple joy of being together on the open road.
Scott loved competition. He was an avid bass fisher. Scott participated in bass fishing tournaments with his son Mitchell and his many fishing buddies. Additionally, he was an active member of the local pool league. Scott enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of these activities. During the evenings, whether it was hosting friends or family, or just sitting with Lori, Scott would always ask who wanted to play 500 rummy. He would usually win. With his kids, however, he would play Farkle instead. He would still usually win.
Scott's quiet demeanor and logical mind were a hallmark of his personality. He was a thoughtful problem-solver, always willing to assist others in finding solutions. Scott had a wide circle of friends who cherished his friendship and knowledge.
Scott is survived by his partner Lori Kopacz; his children Alyssa (Nick) with grandson Luke, Kayla (Jeremy), and Mitchell (Gracie); mother, Karen Sigsworth; siblings Lisa (Jim Handrahan) and Nate Sigsworth (Elise Will); Lori's three children; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation to honor and celebrate Scott's life will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, Wisconsin. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, April 22, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Amery, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Scott Sigsworth will be deeply missed. His legacy of generosity, quiet wisdom, kindness, and dedication to family and friends will continue to inspire those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
