In Loving Memory of Scott Weinmaster
Albert Scott Weinmaster was born in Kailua, Hawaii, on February 23, 1963, to parents Betty Lou Fernandez and Morrison Keith Leavell. He peacefully passed away on August 2, 2023, in Dolores, Colorado, leaving cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Scott spent his early years in the beautiful surroundings of Hawaii before moving to Dolores, Colorado, then Denver, Colorado, with his mother and step-father, Elmer Edward Weinmaster, during his childhood. He graduated from Dolores High School in 1981 and attended Adams State College with a football scholarship.
Despite enduring a tragic accident at the age of 21, which confined him to a wheelchair, Scott exhibited remarkable resilience and strength of spirit. Refusing to let the accident define him, he demonstrated unwavering determination to rise above the challenges he faced. He channeled his indomitable spirit into pursuing higher education and successfully graduated with a Leisure Studies degree from the Metropolitan State College of Denver.
Scott's incredible journey of overcoming adversity did not end there. He became an inspiring role model and mentor for others facing similar circumstances. Scott's passion for sports and outdoor activities led him to teach and empower many individuals, like himself, to engage in sports and embrace the great outdoors, proving that physical limitations could never limit the human spirit.
Scott's family brought him much joy, and he is survived by his wife, Flame Conley Weinmaster, and brother, Greg Weinmaster. He also cherished his extended family and close cousins, who filled his life with love and laughter. Scott had a wide circle of close friends, a testament to his strong connections with those around him.
Scott had a passion for football that ran deep in his veins. He found immense joy in coaching football and was a dedicated fan of the Broncos NFL Team. Watching NFL games was one of his favorite pastimes, and he loved sharing those moments with friends and family.
Beyond football, Scott had a big heart for his feline companions, Puau and Kitty. Their playful antics and unconditional love brought him comfort and joy.
Scott had a zest for life that extended to his hobbies and interests. He delighted in the loud rock and roll music that energized his soul and enjoyed savoring a good vodka. Las Vegas held a special place in his heart, and he relished the excitement of the city's lights and entertainment. He loved long drives and often enjoyed his afternoons at the Dolores River and McPhee Lake.
Scott Weinmaster will forever be remembered as a vibrant and spirited individual who brought happiness and laughter to those around him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. The family is so grateful to all his doctors, nurses, and especially his home health nurse, Dustin, who provided amazing care and love.
To celebrate Scott's life, pour your favorite beverage and make a toast of joy in his honor.
