Scott Yandell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Nov. 24, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Scott Yandell passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and unwavering love for the people and passions that shaped his life. He is survived by his father, Ray Yandell, brothers, Douglas Yandell and Mark Cowman, nephew Sean Cowman, niece Jennifer Peery who will forever cherish his memory.
Scott was an avid OU football fan, and some of his happiest moments were spent tailgating with friends and family. He took great pride in cooking and smoking food for every gathering, turning each game day into something special. His talent for creating a welcoming atmosphere-and a great meal-made him the heart of those tailgate traditions.
Beyond football and food, Scott enjoyed a lifelong hobby of working on cars, often spending hours in the garage honing his craft and sharing his knowledge with anyone who asked.
Scott held a deeply special place in his heart for his mother, whose passing on October 21, 2021, profoundly shaped his life. Their bond remained a source of strength and comfort to him.
Those who knew Scott will remember his generosity, his steady presence, and the simple joys he brought to ordinary moments. He will be deeply missed.
Scott is survived by his brothers, Mark Cowman and girlfriend Janet Friedrich, Douglas Yandell, and Henry R. Yandell; his nephew, Sean Cowman, and wife, Erica; his niece, Jennifer Peery, and husband, Brett; and his great-nieces, Madison Cowman, Brooke McCloud, Raegan Cowman, Karli Peery, and Brycen Peery, as well as numerous cousins and other loving family and friends.
Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Jane K. Yandell.
