Seaborn Saffold Obituary

Seaborn Jones "S.J." Saffold, Jr. 88 of Buckhead, Georgia passed away August 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born May 14, 1937, in Buckhead, Georgia, to Seaborn Jones (Seab) Saffold Sr. and Doris Jones Saffold.

As a young boy at the age of nine, he developed a strong work ethic working alongside his father at the family dairy. During his school years, he was an active member of 4-H and FFA. He remembered fondly attending local and county fairs as well National Dairy cattle competitions in Kansas City.

After graduating from Morgan County High School, S.J. was employed by Mr. Joe Bell of Buckhead where he delivered milk cans to the Madison Creamery. He later purchased the trucking business from Mr. Bell and established S.J. Saffold Jr. Trucking. In 1980 he took over the dairy business from his father and built a modern parlour system barn where he milked over 250 head. Later in life he turned over the businesses to his sons, but continued to work alongside them until his health declined. With over 70 years in the dairy industry, he never officially retired.

S.J.s life was marked by faith, family, and civic duty. He was a steadfast servant in Buckhead Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Deacons for over 50 years. He served three terms as Morgan County Commissioner and one term as Vice Chairman. He also served on the Board of Directors of Morgan County Farm Bureau and two years as County President. SJ was on the Morgan County Planning Commission, Hospital Board, and Agribusiness committee. He was a proud member of Morgan County Dairy Association, and Dairy Cooperative Dairymen Inc. which later became DFA. He was an avid supporter of Agriculture traveling to our state and national capitol on numerous occasions to advocate for Farm and agriculture legislation.
