Sean Cook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park on Jan. 19, 2023.
We regret to announce the unexpected passing of Séan Patrick Cook, age 56, born October 23, 1966. He was a loving husband to Maria Cook and father to four beautiful girls Rachel, Ally, Amanda, and Lauren Cook. He was the son of Wilbur Jay Cook, deceased, and Paula Ferrara Cook. He was the brother-in-law of Oscar D'Souza and Carolyn D'Souza.
Séan worked as a civil engineer for URS (New Orleans), AECOM (Austin), TRC (Austin), and Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (City of Austin.) He loved his job and cared so much about his coworkers. True to his engineering nature, he was always trying to figure out how things worked. You could catch him studying the mechanics of everyday objects and find him tinkering away in the garage, working on his TR8s until they were perfect.
When Séan pursued a hobby, he took pride in pursuing it with excellence in mind. He held himself to a high standard and pushed himself to be a better person everyday. This was true in everything he did, but it was especially true for bodybuilding. He spent countless hours in the gym, weighing his food, working with trainers, and eventually placed 1st in the 2017 Lee Labrada Classic and 2nd in the NPC 2019 Masters National Championship.
Séan had a passion for music, especially RUSH, he played the saxophone in the New Orleans Jazz Band, and he loved sci-fi and fantasy movies, especially The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings, and John Wick. Séan also had a deeply personal relationship with God and an unwavering faith. He attended Hill Country Bible Church at Steiner Ranch where he was surrounded by an amazing community.
Although he looked big and tough, he was a teddy bear on the inside. He was a man of few words but was always thinking, observing, and learning. He will be missed and remembered by his family and friends. Séan is loved by so many people, and we find solace knowing that he can now rest at peace with his dad and watch over us until we meet again in heaven.

My heartfelt sympathy to Maria, the girls, and all of Sean´s family at this difficult time. I was so saddened to hear of Sean´s passing and sorry that we had lost touch in the past few years. Sean and I worked together at URS/AECOM for many years when he and his family moved to Austin from Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Sean was a great co-worker and friend, and we spent much time (probably too much) commiserating about work and personal matters. Sean was such a unique individual - a person doesn´t meet too many bodybuilding, muffuletta making Civil Engineers who love classic Triumph TR8 roadsters and H.R. Giger artwork. I will miss you and the conversations we will never have. May God bless you and your family.
