Pawnee - Sean Mikel Donahue, 29, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Pawnee, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, after an automobile accident in Pawnee. He was born May 20, 1994, in Springfield, the son of Vincent W. and Samantha L. Gudgel Donahue. He married Sierra N. Jones on Sept. 25, 2020, in Springfield. Sean was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Walt Gudgel; paternal grandparents, Jack and Karen Donahue; a half-brother, Wade Donahue; and a half-sister, Amanda Donahue.
Sean attended Pawnee High School. He was a truck driver for Ramsey Trucking Inc. in Rochester. He had previously worked in the concrete business for more than 10 years, including with Bill Langheim Concrete Service in Pawnee and with his uncle Walt Gudgel at Gudgel Concrete.
Sean was a loving husband and father, and family was extremely important to him. He loved working with his hands, whether that involved working in his garage or fixing things. He also loved riding motorcycles, playing pool, fishing and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Sierra Donahue, of Springfield; one son, Jameson L. Donahue, at home; his father, Vince W. (wife, Kathleen) Donahue, of Decatur; his mother, Samantha Donahue, of Springfield; one brother, Dallas Donahue, of Springfield; two sisters, Virginia (fiancé, Zack Meridith) Donahue of Riverton and Kelly A. Donahue of Pontiac; two nieces, Katie Edwards and Jordyn Meridith; one nephew, Wade A. Lucas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Sean's family will meet friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee, with Rev. Roger Meridith officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jameson Donahue Educational Fund, c/o United Community Bank, 619 Fifth St., Pawnee, IL 62558.
