In loving remembrance of Sean Thomas Hennessy, whose life illuminated the hearts of all who knew him, we gather to honor a man whose true passion was music and sound. Born on August 1, 1997, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sean's journey was marked by a profound dedication to the art of audio engineering a craft that brought his spirit to life beyond the ordinary.

While Sean held a respected position as a Senior Branch Banker at PNC Bank, it was in the world of music production where his heart truly thrived. Under the mentorship of Glenn Brown, Sean honed his skills as an Audio Engineer, delighting in the intricate process of shaping sound and producing polished, evocative music. His early years were deeply enriched by his connection to the Tuba, an instrument that accompanied him through middle school, high school, and college, laying the foundation for his lifelong musical journey.

Sean and Alexandra Cubero-Matos met in September 2016 at Western Michigan University, where he was an audio engineer for the jazz vocal group Gold Company 2, and she was a singer. Their first date a Pink Floyd cover band concert marked the beginning of a journey where they never left each other’s side.

Sean shared a beautiful life with Alexandra, their bond woven through shared creativity from celebrating birthdays at an Earth, Wind & Fire concert to collaborating on music spanning genres like jazz and the timeless sounds of the Bee Gees. Their spontaneous road trips and adventures in nature reflected the joy and freedom they found in each other’s company. Their love story blossomed with a proposal in Portugal in 2022 and culminated in their marriage on February 17, 2024.

Known for his honesty, thoughtfulness, and keen observation, Sean was a gentle soul with a courageous heart. He was a social justice warrior who deeply loved people, especially those outcast and left behind by society. His ability to meet others halfway and his fierce empathy made him a champion for fairness and kindness.

Sean and Alexandra made their home in Oregon for two years before returning to Southwest Michigan, where their family grew to include Luna and Dixie, their cherished dogs, along with Perla and Stella Ivonne, beloved pets from their extended family, and Moo, their dignified tuxedo cat. Sean’s tender bond with these animals reflected his deep capacity for love and care.

Sean’s relationships with his family were a source of joy and connection. He and his brother Devin shared a love of cars and science fiction, often diving into conversations about engines and interstellar adventures. With his sister Sarah, he explored the paranormal and delighted in reminiscing about childhood favorites like Mr. Bean. Sean and his father, Thomas, engaged in thoughtful discussions about economics and sociocultural dynamics, while with his mother, Angela, he shared a love of arts and crafts together creating a sense of softness often forgotten in this world.

Beyond his professional and familial commitments, Sean’s playful spirit and curiosity led him to explore hiking, historical architecture, and the fascinating world of mycology. His enthusiasm for learning and sharing knowledge sparked lively conversations and enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to engage with him.

Sean’s earthly journey ended at home on October 8, 2025, in Kalamazoo, leaving a legacy of compassion, creativity, and joy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Alexandra; his loving parents, Thomas and Angela Hennessy (Vitale); his siblings, Devin and Sarah Hennessy; his treasured grandparents; his supportive in-laws, Roxanna I Duntley-Matos and Marvin Cubero; his brother-in-law, Daniel Cubero-Matos; and numerous cousins, family members, and friends who cherished him deeply.

May the memory of Sean Thomas Hennessy forever resonate in our hearts a testament to the power of love, creativity, and the enduring harmony he brought to the world.
