Sean Hughes Obituary

Sean Gordon Hughes, son, brother, uncle, nephew, artist, and friend, passed suddenly on September 25, 2025. He is survived by his father, William Hughes, his sisters Pamela Hughes and Laura McMullin and brothers, Bill Hughes, Nick Hughes, Christian Hughes and Darius Hughes. He is beloved by his family, and his many nieces and nephews: Genevieve, Billy Jr., Reilly, Connor, Olivia, Sage, Trinity, Isabella, Ethan, Nate, Christian and Fiona, and by many other loved ones like his sister and brother-in-laws and aunts and uncles. His passing was a sad blow to us all. However, Sean was often fun, friendly and playful in this life, so we celebrate that part of him--that joie de vivre. He often proclaimed when happy, "zim-bala-bim!," a kind of joking anthem that reflected his quirky nature. He sped-racing shoes clipped firmly onto the pedals-through the streets of Lyndhurst, Garfield and beyond on his European racing bike. As an artist, he could paint with the photographic realism that most professional painters would marvel at. He was the guy that got under the table or down in the grass and played with the kids like a kid himself...the one that the kids gravitated towards. Bless you, Sean! We love you!

Hang happily with angels, archangels and with our Mom (and Nana) Bette, in heaven!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM. Memorial Mass to follow at Sacred Heart Church, Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. You may express condolences by using our tribute wall. The family will be establishing a Sean Hughes Memorial Art Scholarship in the future.
