Sean P. McCarthy

Sean Patrick McCarthy, "Minnow" lost his lifelong battle with a host of medical challenges on Thursday, February 6, 2014 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 50. Born in Tom's River, NJ to Virginia and Patrick McCarthy on February 26, 1963, Sean lived most of his life in Poughkeepsie, NY and Burlington, VT. Sean was an active member of the Hudson and Champlain Valleys' robust music communities for more than three decades, playing drums with dozens of musicians and lending his considerable talents to some of the best bands in both regions. His greatest passions were music, the NY Rangers, Formula One Racing, and his beloved children. Chili dogs and donuts must be listed as well, but will not be held accountable. Sean was pre-deceased by his mother Virginia Koziol McCarthy, November 24th 2013 and is survived by his father Patrick McCarthy of Deerfield Beach, FL, brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Diane McCarthy of Burlington, VT, sister Kelley McCarthy of Gainesville, FL, niece Bailey McCarthy of Burlington, VT, children Tyler and Michaela McCarthy and their mom, Willa, of Highland, NY. Sean is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Edward and Mary Lou Koziol of Wappingers Falls, his uncle Richard Koziol of Wappingers Falls and many, many good friends. Enough gratitude cannot be expressed for Uncle Ed and Aunt Lou for their care and support of Sean, particularly over the last several months, and for good friends Daryl Holsipple and Ken Marma. A graveside service for Sean and his mother is planned for the Spring in Poughkeepsie. A blues jam in Sean's honor will also be planned.
