Sean P. Simms was born on October 20, 1974 to Janice Watkins and the late Wayne Davis. On Tuesday, August 29, 2023 Sean peacefully entered eternal rest at the family home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Sean was an incredible son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandparent, and friend to so many! His love, charisma, and care for others touched the lives of many with a vibrance that was unmatched.
Throughout his life, Sean exemplified what it means to be a servant leader. His continued dedication to serving this country, the community, and leading his family are all great examples of his service to others. Sean was educated in the D.C. Public School system and graduated from H.D. Woodson High School.
Sean held a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Bethel University. He served in the United States Army for 13 years before being honorably discharged. His dedication to serve led him to the Hendersonville Police Department where he served the community for 16 years. In 2007 he started as a Patrol Officer and a Flex Officer before being promoted to Detective in 2015.
Sean has a love for adventure and was always drawn to the water. He was a certified scuba diver, avid adventurer, and loved to travel with his family. He was truly a family man who continually showed up for his family. He never missed a basketball game, lacrosse tournament, or cross country meet if he could help it. He had a passion for music and never missed an opportunity to take his wife out dancing. In his free time you could catch Sean volunteering to run a scoreboard, coaching a basketball team, or participating in any other community events.
Sean leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories. He is survived by his wife, Danita Simms and children Briana, Aqil, and Aiyanah Simms; his mother Janice Watkins; his siblings Kimberly Montgomery (Cary), Catherine Watkins, and Robert Watkins (India); his grandson Madison Simms, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. He also leaves behind countless friends and colleagues who were fortunate to have known him and experienced his zest for life.
