SHELBY: Selma Huntsinger Ware, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, completed her earthly journey on September 28, 2025, in her cherished hometown of Cleveland County, NC. Born on June 15, 1934, Selma graced this world for 91 years, enriching the lives of those around her with warmth, love, and devotion.
A native of Shelby, NC, Selma was a lifelong member of Zoar Baptist Church, where her faith and community were central to her life. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Roger Ware, and together they built a home filled with laughter, music, and joy. Selma was a devoted housewife who treasured her role as a nurturer and caretaker, pouring her heart into raising their three children.
Her love for dancing, music, gardening, and reading brought her immense joy throughout her life. She had a profound appreciation for the simple pleasures and found beauty in the everyday. Above all, Selma's greatest passion was her family, whom she adored beyond measure.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Huntsinger and Lela Rabb, as well as her brothers, Albert Huntsinger, Bill Huntsinger, and Harold Huntsinger. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Ware, and significant other, Joseph Buckner, and Debbie Anderson, and husband, Gary, and a son, Steve Ware, and wife, Crystal. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Earlene Rhymer, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever remember her kindness and gentle spirit.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Selma's legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
