Severin Lawrence Wilde, 80, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born February 10, 1944 in Rhineland, Texas to Charles and Annie (Decker) Wilde.
He was a former resident of the Central High Community, located west of Marlow. A 1962 graduate of Central High School, he continued his education at Cameron College in Lawton and graduated in 1964 with an associate degree. He completed his education at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1966 with a degree in engineering. While at Oklahoma State University, he participated in the ROTC program which enabled him to enter the United States Army with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, he became a pilot of Huey and Cobra Helicopters. During the Vietnam War he was the commander of a fire team of PH-1G helicopters and also received the Distinguished Service Cross and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism above and beyond the call of duty. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
He was later employed as a project engineer for Texstar Plastics and was an avid bowler and gardener.
Wilde was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Dennis, LeeRoy, Cecil, Marvin, and Melvin Wilde; and two sisters, Charlene Thames, and Roseann LaJaunie.
His survivors include a sister, Bettie Cooper and husband George of Marlow; a brother, John Robert Wilde of Fort Worth; numerous nephews and nieces; three sisters-in-law, Helen Wilde of Alvarado, Yvonne Wilde of Fort Worth, and Margaret Wilde of Fort Worth.
