SELKIRK - The family of Severina Papa announces her peaceful passing on January 29, 2026, at the age of 90, at her home, surrounded by the family she cherished so dearly. Born in Castiglione di Sicilia, Italy.
Severina was the beloved wife of the late Carmelo Papa.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Joseph V. (Grace) Papa and Mary (Papa) Aguero; and a proud and adoring grandmother to Carmelo Papa of Delmar, Severina "Vera" (Jared) Frey of Selkirk, Anthony Joseph (Amanda) Papa of Selkirk, Mario Aguero of Latham, Lindsey (Sha-Mel) Babb of Scotia, and Lisette Cardona of Latham. Her greatest joy was being Nonna, and she was also blessed with several great-grandchildren.
Severina is survived by her beloved sister, Giuseppina Camuglia of Sicily; her brother, Antonio (Almudena) Camuglia of Switzerland; her sister-in-law, Carmela Ragonese of Albany; and her brother-in-law, Carmelo Puglia of Sicily; and many loving nieces and nephews, both in the United States and abroad.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Carmelo Papa; her sister, Maria Camuglia Puglia; and her brother-in-law, Giuseppe Ragonese; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Rosaria Laviano; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Salvatore and Gerarda Papa.
She took pride in her work at Sam's Italian American Restaurant, where she worked there for over 30 years and was well respected by the Rappoccio family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 9:00 a.m., at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
