Shamequa Newell-Cope Obituary
Shamequa Dorsha Maria-Faye Newell passed away on June 17, 2025 in McDonough, GA. She is survived by her mother Martha Williams, and father Dean Newell ( Constance Newell ).
Shamequa was a loving Mother, Sister, Aunt, Niece, and Friend. She lit up the room with her beautiful smile and that contagious laugh. She loved caring and cooking for others at various nursing homes recently working at the Charlotte Behavioral Center in Punta Gorda, FL. She also worked as a security officer for a few years at a nearby prison.
Shamequa loved spending every moment she could with her four beautiful children Lashawn Powell, Niguel Powell, Janaya Powell, and Javier Newell, whether it was attending the boy's football games, track, or simply going to the beach. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family at gatherings, fishing, and traveling. When Shamequa wasn't with her kids or family she always made time for a little TLC for herself by spending time with her dear friends.
The family invites you to join us in honoring the life of our beloved Shamequa. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Life Celebration Center of Punta Gorda, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A repast will be held immediately after the service.
Your presence and support are deeply appreciated during this time of remembrance.
