Sharilyn Laneece Boykin (Hungate, “Hun”), age 68, passed away on October 18, 2024, in Tavares, FL. Known for her talent, class, loving spirit, and dedication, Sharilyn was the epitome of friendship, and the essence of loyalty and beauty, adored by all who knew her.

Sharilyn is survived by her loving husband, Dwayne Boykin; her mother, Sena Hungate; brother, Vince Hungate (Allison); stepsons, Travis (Tanya) and Jeremy; brothers-in-law, Charles Boykin (Kathy) and Bobby Boykin (DJ); and a cherished circle of grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Earl H. Hungate, and stepson, Brandon Boykin.

Educated at Lee University in Cleveland, TN, Sharilyn received her bachelor’s in business education. She devoted her career to both private and public services. First in the telecommunications industry, retiring after 20 years with Centel Corporation in Tallahassee, which later merged with Sprint Corporation. She retired with a second career in local government from Polk County Board of County Commissioners after 18 years of dedicated service.

Sharilyn was a lifelong member of the Church of God, Cleveland, TN. She grew up as a preacher's kid and served faithfully in music and pastoral ministries alongside her husband before their retirement. She was a gifted musician and vocalist in church worship. Her hobbies included shopping, decorating, and traveling, which brought joy to her and those around her. If you weren’t a shopper, she made you one.

A service to honor her life will be at the Sanctuary Church of Orlando on Friday, October 25, 2024, with visitation from 12:00-2:00 pm and the service following from 2:00-3:30 pm. She will be laid to rest in a private service at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, at a later date. In recent years Sharilyn had a deep compassion for missions to Israel. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation of your choice to support projects for Israel.
