Sharon Ashley Obituary
She was born August 30, 1949, in Staunton, Virginia, the daughter of the late William "Mike" Marshall Downey, Sr. and Arbutus Lena Hartless Weaver.
Sharon was formerly employed as a cook at Ed's Grill.
She was a devout Christian, an avid bowler, enjoyed dirt track stock car racing, and greatly enjoyed both Monday bingo and activity days.
Sharon is survived by her children: Robin Ashley and Tonya Ashley; grandchildren: Jubilee, Richard, Charlie, Kaitlyn, Damien, Alyssa, and Tyler; great grandchildren: Travis, Elizabeth, and Hunter Jr.; brother: William "Buzzy" Marshall Downey, Jr.; and several nieces, with one special niece Crystal Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Franklin Ashley, Jr.; a brother, John Amos Downey; and a sister Susan Downey Fix.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Claudette Wilcher officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Thomas, Blayne Brown, Donnie Colvin, Justin Thomas, Jacob Thomas, and Allen Collawn.
The family will receive friends one hour before at Craigsville Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah.
