Obituary of Sharon K. Birnbaum

Sharon K. Birnbaum, our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 18th after a brief but difficult battle with Alzheimer's. She was born April 11, 1948 to Bertha and Abraham Kerstein, both of blessed memory, on the west side of Denver. Sharon was the youngest of four children. She is survived by her husband Len Birnbaum, her son Jared (Jacqueline Sene) Steinberg and daughter Devin (Justin Cline) Steinberg, sister Marcye (Ron z"l) Rothberg, brothers Howard (Joann) Kerstein and Stanley (Suzi) Kerstein; and grandchildren Braxton Cline, Henley Cline, and Omar Sene.

Sharon attended George Washington High School before marrying Stephen Steinberg with whom she shared her 2 children. She had a brief career as a dental assistant before realizing a passion for teaching which she lovingly did at Temple Sinai Preschool for several decades. After her children were grown, Sharon's life took a new direction when she earned a certification in massage therapy and married Len, her husband of 25+ years.

Of all her roles in life, Sharon's most cherished was being a mom, and more recently, a nana. She was known for her baking and loved nothing more than being with her family and dear friends. She was warm, outspoken, and endlessly caring-always invested in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

Sharon will be remembered for her big heart, quick wit, and ability to find laughter as illustrated by her loving, nurturing compassion and genuine interest in every person lucky enough to cross her path. She will be deeply missed.

Service, Thursday, August 21, at 2:00 pm, at Temple Sinai. Livestream will be available on Temple Sinai's website, https://sinaidenver.org/livestream/.
