Sharon Cunningham

Sharon Ann (Shamburg) Cunningham was born in Delta, CO on September 29th, 1945, to Lynn and Lois Shamburg. She moved with her family to Modesto, CA in 1951 where she attended elementary school in Ceres, CA. In 1957, the Shamburg’s moved to Sacramento, CA. Sharon began her walk with the Lord and was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the First Born by Brother Hobert Stevens on November 16th, 1958. Sharon proudly attended McClatchy High School then was transferred her senior year to the new Luther Burbank High School where she was in the first graduating class of 1963. On December 24th, 1966, she married her loving companion Charley Cunningham and to this union of nearly 30 years, 2 children were born, first son Charley Cunningham, Jr. The Cunningham’s left Sacramento in 1970 for Western Colorado where daughter Misty (Cunningham) Byers was added to the family. They later moved to Oklahoma where they spent a year before finally returning to Sacramento in1986.

Sharon found beauty in all of God’s creation. She enjoyed trips to the ocean, growing flowers and bird watching. However, her true joy was her fellowship with God and his people. She was blessed with a wonderful gift of helps and discernment and faithfully sent many cards and letters with words of hope and encouragement. Her desire was to uplift and encourage those who were discouraged or going through hard times. She had a way of making everyone she met feel special and seen.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Lois of Grand Junction, CO, her husband Charley Cunningham Sr. of Sacramento, sister Georgia Shamburg of Sacramento and brothers Larry Shamburg of Sacramento and Allen Shamburg of Henryetta, OK. She is survived by her son, Charley and wife Sandy Cunningham Rio Linda, CA, daughter Misty and husband Hal Byers of Depoe Bay, Oregon. 10 grandchildren- Malea and husband Josh Gibson of Rio Linda, CA, Blake Cunningham of Puyallup, WA, Shelby Cunningham and wife Laura of Delta, CO, Lucas Cunningham and fiancé Autumn Wilson of Grand Junction, CO, Allison Cunningham and fiancé Corey Wright of Rio Linda, CA. Cole Martin and wife Khrystina of Ione, CA, Wyatt Martin of Placerville, CA, Taylor Martin of Janesville, CA, Matthew and Morgan Reeves of Depoe Bay, OR. Great grandchildren Linnea and Isla Gibson and Ella and Ruby Cunningham, as well as a host of brethren and friends she loved as dearly as her own.
