Sharon K. Freeman of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on December 20, 2024, at the age of 81, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on June 3, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Catherine Lewis (Bolton) and Wesley Coverdill, she was the oldest of five children. Raised in Savanna, Illinois, Sharon always referred to this town as her “home."

In Las Cruces, Sharon made significant contributions to the White Sands Missile Range as the Supervisory Supply Management Specialist in the National Range Support Directorate of the Logistics Division. Her dedication and hard work earned her the prestigious Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. After retiring in 1998, she embraced her role as a full-time grandmother, a position she cherished deeply.
Sharon had a passion for traveling across the country with her husband and grandchildren. She was an active individual, proudly completing a 5K run in 2023 at the age of 80. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching vintage television game shows and classic movies. A talented crafter, Sharon crocheted blankets for many family members and friends, leaving them with warm memories of her love. Her children and grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and she took great pride in supporting them at sports events and national shooting competitions.
Sharon is survived by her loving children, Shelly Noe (Scott) of Las Cruces, NM; Michael Dauphin of Albuquerque, NM; Wesley Klein of Janesville, WI; and Stacy Klein of Miles, IA.
