Sharon Elizabeth Helmick

Sharon Elizabeth Helmick, 74, of New Market, VA passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Life Care Center of New Market.
She was born on August 19, 1950 in Rockingham County, Virginia and was a daughter of the late James Cread and Georgia Ellen Helmick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ellen Helmick and a brother, James David Helmick.
After attending McGaheysville Elementary School she then went on to Lynchburg Training School and Hospital.
Sharon had a profound love for people, her church and God. She never wavered from that love. Sharon was a dedicated worker at any job she held and completed all of her work with a passion. She never met a stranger.
Family members that she leaves behind are a sister, Mary Howdyshell and husband, Gary of Hinton, VA; brothers, Michael Helmick of Harrisonburg, VA and John Helmick and wife, Teresa of Elkton, VA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family would like to extended a sincere thank you to all who loved Sharon, understood her and were a part of her life.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren Cemetery with Pastor Stacy Meyerhoeffer officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
