Mrs. Sharon Angles Henderson, age 82, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon at St. Mary Catholic Church, 403 North Main St., Franklin, KY, 42134; followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Sharon was born January 13, 1942 in Detroit, MI, to the late Edmond Angles and the late Louise (Dockins) Angles.
She is survived by her husband Dean L. Henderson; 2 sons, Ronald D. Henderson and Steven M. Henderson (Emily); a daughter, Heather H. Cassity (Troy); 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Sharon and Dean, who were high school sweethearts, enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Sharon graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing in 1965. She was a trailblazer for women in the medical field who worked in numerous hospitals during her career and also taught in the nursing program at Western Kentucky University. Sharon was devoted to her family and set aside her professional career to focus on being a mother and homemaker. She was a natural caregiver and never met a stranger. She enjoyed party planning and entertaining and was never afraid to try a new recipe regardless of how many mouths she was planning to feed. She treasured spending time with family and friends and valued keeping detailed records of events through her love of photography and scrapbooking. After Dean retired, they enjoyed traveling to numerous destinations throughout the U.S. and abroad, including annual trips to Florida at Thanksgiving with their grandchildren. Sharon was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church for many years, but decided to join Dean and become a member of St. Mary Catholic Church after their last child left home for college. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Ladies Guild and embraced the opportunity to minister to anyone in their time of need. She loved to play bridge and was a member of 3 different bridge clubs. Sharon was also an avid tennis player who enjoyed time on the courts at the Franklin Country Club with her friends.
