Sharon G. Hockenberry, age 71, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025. She was born on July 18, 1954, in Louisville, Ohio, to the late George and Sigrid Marie (Bollman) Grisak. Sharon was a proud 1972 graduate of Louisville High School and devoted her life to being a loving homemaker.
Sharon had a deep affection for animals, cherishing the time she spent caring for family farm animals, especially her beloved Doxin puppies she raised. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the animals; she was an avid reader who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was scouring garage sales for hidden treasures, tending to her beautiful flower beds, or creating cherished blankets for her family through her crochet skills.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence Hockenberry, whose companionship brought her immeasurable happiness throughout their life together. Also surviving are her son, Steve (Joy) Minor; daughter, Lori (Jesse) Kraft; her step-daughter, Malinda Hockenberry; her grandchildren, Cody (Alyssa Harsh) Minor, Alexis (Alexis "Stu") Minor, Hailey Minor, Riley Minor, Bryce Minor, Katelyn (Brittany) Kraft, Cole Kraft and Emerson Kraft; her great grandchildren, Chase Minor, Corbin Kraft, Kayden Kraft and expecting, Kaysen Minor; along with her siblings, Richard Grisak, Randy Grisak and Sandra Lewis.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her stepmother, Iris Virginia (Machamer) Grisak.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sharon's life during calling hours and visitation, which will take place at Reed Funeral Home CANTON Chapel on Wednesday September 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
In this time of sorrow, we remember Sharon for her kindness, creativity, and the warmth she brought into our lives. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Online condolences and fond memories may be left for the family at www.reedfuneralhome.com.
