SHARON ALICE JACKSON

Sharon passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023. Born Sept. 28, 1941, to Gunnar and Francis Matsen in St. Helens, OR. She grew up in Alaska as a toddler and then moved to Portland, OR, where she graduated Madison High School. After high school she went on to attend Good Samaritan Hospital Nursing School. She worked as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for around 35 years. She enjoyed working with coworkers and the patients in the operating room and day surgery. Sharon had a witty sense of humor and was an avid reader. She loved going to the beach. Throughout the years Sharon was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in
Vancouver, WA. She enjoyed participating in church events and chaperoning church youth events. Sharon enjoyed raising two children and being a part of her niece and grandchildren’s lives. In retirement she enjoyed traveling the world with many friends to places like Thailand, Egypt, Europe, and many more countries. She also traveled to Disneyland with her niece and each of the grandchildren. She went on to volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in her community, volunteered at her grandchildren’s and friends elementary schools. She was always cheering on her nieces, grandchildren, and family friends at sporting events. She enjoyed sharing meals and hanging out with friends, family, and grandchildren. Sharon is survived by her son Mark Jackson and his wife Becky, her daughter Nichole Maruca her husband Jeff, niece Katherine Matsen, and grandchildren Sam, Lauren and her husband Aaron, Owen and his wife Anna, and Grace all in
Vancouver, WA. There will be a service on Saturday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in
Vancouver, WA.
